Israeli Urges- Unity
for NY Jewish Groups

NEW YORK (JTA)—Al-
though the Jewish community
of this city is one of the big-
gest and most effective cen-
ters of Jewish strength in the
world, the maze of Jewish
organizations lacks an im-
portant unifying factor, Ben-
jamin Abileah, deputy con-
sul-general of Israel to New
York told the JTA.
Abileah spoke after a lunch-
eon sponsored by the Ameri-
can Zionist Federation, which
honored hime at the comple-
tion of his 11-month tour of
duty in New York. "There is
a need for a city-wide co-
ordinating committee. It
would help this community's
work become even more ef-
fective," he said.
