Histadrut Official Says National Unity Will Put a Stop to Spiraling Inflation

NEW YORK (JTA)—Yeru-
ham Meshel, the new secre-
tary-general of Histadrut, at
a press conference during his
first official visit to the
United States, said that the
Histadrut is demanding ac-
tion on the part of the gov-
ernment to stop inflation in
Israel.
"Inflation," Meshel said,
"is a national problem and
can only be stopped by na-
tional unity."
Meshel was asked by the

JTA what the labor federa-
tion is doing to stem the tide
of the inflation that has
caused such economic and
social stress in Israel. Meshel
replied that the Histadrut is
making demands on the gov-
ernment to "take away from
the rich parts of society and
to diminish profits."
He also said that the gov-
ernment must collect taxes
from companies, manufac-
turers and the self-employed
in order to even out the tax
structure so that all pay their

Speaking in Detroit Tues- .

"We must get more women
into t h e industrial labor
force," he said. "We must
increase the percentage of
women (in the work force)
by not less than 10 per cent.
"There is a possibility of
bringing women into sophis-
ticated industry, but we can't
ask women to join the work
force if we don't provide
kindergartens for their chil-
dren."
Meshel explained that it
wasn't enough to provide
women with a tax reduction
to give them an incentive to
work. He said it was more
important to have a place
where their children could
be cared for while their
mothers worked.

Egypt Denies Search for Missing
Until Israel Releases Terrorists

JERUSALEM (JTA) — Is-
rael has refused to exchange
convicted terrorists in return
for an Egyptian consent to
allow the continuation of the
search for missing bodies in
the Sinai front, the news-
paper Maariv reported.
The paper quoted Prof.
David Meisler, the father of
a missing soldier, who said
this was explained to him by
the army officer, in charge
of the search activities.
Maariv added, however,
that several dozen terrbrists
who did not actually partici-
pate in sabotage acts — but
merely belonged to terrorist
organizations —i- as well as
an Egyptian intelligence offi-
cer, were handed over to the
Egyptians in return for the
continued search for bodies,
in a secret deal with the
'Egyptians.
Maariv quotes an official
security source who con-
firmed that there was such
a deal, but, the source was
quoted as saying, there was
no exchange of the prisoners
who had actually participated
in terror acts.
Even\if Israel were to meet
the Egyptian conditions, the
paper said, the Egyptians
are limiting the search area
to places where there is no
probability of finding missing

bodies, and they refuse to
allow searches in the areas
where Israel believes there
may be bodies.
The paper also quoted
members of three families
who said they saw photos of
their sons in propaganda
leaflets the Egyptian army
published. They said the
photos showed clearly the
bodies of their sons lying
near their tank.

However, the Egyptians re-
fused to allow any search in
the area where that tank was
hit. They said they them-
selves would look for the
bodies of the three, but then
reported they found nothing.

NEW YORK — Charges of
defamation of character and
invasion of privacy brought
by the sons of Julius and

According to Judge Harold
R. Tyler Jr., the Rosenberg'
sons had failed to show "ac-

The book describes the trial
of the Rosenbergs, who were
executed on a charge of sell-

However, the charge for
copyright infringement was
ordered to stand. The sons,
Michael and Robert Meero-
