dent of Guardian Industries,
will be the new owner, with
seven other Detroit business-
men, of the Detroit Pistons
basketball team. Davidson
will be chief executive of op-
erations and Herb Tyner,
chief executive of adminis-
tration. Others in the part-
nership are David and Eu-
gene Mondry, Warren J.
Coville, William M. Wetsman
and Oscar H. Feldman, gen-
eral counsel for the new Pis-
ton group. A graduate of
Wayne State University and
the University of Michigan,
Davidson said he has main-
_tained an interest in sports
throughout his life and will
play an active role in the
club. The team was bought
for a reported $8,120,000 from
Fred Zollner, 73, a neighbor
of Davidson's in Golden
Beach, Fla.

Named at Sinai,

of Zvi Tomkiewicz, the vener-
able executive director of
Mizrachi and Bar-Ilan in De-
troit, and will, at the same
time, memorialize the hon-
oree's deceased wife, Jean-
nette, who shared with him
many of his life's labors.
Jeannette Nissenbaum-
Baumer, a graduate pharma-
cist, was active in Israeli
and women's circles. In her
10 years of service as a
pharmacist she filled more
that 2,000,000 prescriptions
She is a member of a pro-
minent family. Her Detroit
brothers are Dr. Moe Baumer
and Dr. Samuel Baumer. A
sister, Mrs. Donald (Ger-
trude) Landa, was secretary
to Toscanini and Szillard.
Another sister, Sophie, is
married to Dr. Benjamin S.
Bloom, a world famous edu-
cator who is associated with
UNESCO.
Members of the Bar-Ilan
dinner committee will meet
for brunch, to plan the an-
nual event, 10:30 a.m. Aug.
11 at Young Israel of Oak-
Woods.

Dr. Steven Widlansky has
been appointed to the section
of cardiovascular diseases in
the department of medicine
at Sinai Hospital. Dr. Widlan-
sky's specialty is echocardoi-
graphy, a procedure in which
high frequency soundwaves
are used to diagnose heatt
problems. A former intern
and resident at Sinai, Dr.
Widlansky was previously
with the Indiana University
Medical Center for two years
as a cardiology fellow. Prior
to his association with the
Indiana University Medical
Center and his military serv-
ice, Dr. Widlansky was a
house staff member at Sinai
for two years. He is a grad-
uate of Wayne State Univer-
sity's medical school.

nual dinner of Detroit Friends

Mrs. Adina Rates of Haifa
is searching for her uncle,
Natan Kathman, who came
to America from Horodok,
Russia between 1905 and
1915 when he was 13 years
old.
According to Mrs. Rates,
Kathman married in the
U.S. and had children. He
corresponded with her moth-
er, Zvia, until her death dur-
ing World War II. Since then
no news has bc,m heard from
Kathman. Mrs. Rates re-
membered that her uncle
lived in Detroit. Persons with
