After Growth

(That Which Grows of Itself)
By RACHEL BLAUSTEIN

(Translated from the Hebrew

by Joshua Joyrich.)

Yes, I didn't plow, I haven't
even sown.
I did not pray for rain.
And suddenly, please see:
my fields have grown
All kinds of produce blessed
by the sun instead of thorn.
r.s this the plant from ancient
reproduction.
Wheats of joy are they;
thinned out since then?
That lingered with me in the
days of the privation,
Cutting, sprouting in me in
a manner hidden.
Grow and sprout, I pray,
prodigious region,
Grow and sprout, and
hurry—ripen!
I recall the words of
consolation:
You will eat the plant and
post-plant too.
