Sam Rothberg, general chairman, and Michael Ar- non, president and chief executive officer of the Is- rael Bond Organization, will head the Jerusalem Leader- ship Conference, the first meeting between American and Canadian Jewish lead- ers and top members of the Israel cabinet since the gov- ernment's adoption of a new policy of austerity. The purpose of the confer- ence, according to Rothberg, is to consider how "we can best help the people of Is- rael meet the heaviest eco- nomic and financial burdens in their history which have placed upon them the back- breaking load of the highest taxes and compulsory loans of any country in the world." Sessions will be held in the Prime Minister's office with Rabin and leading members of his cabinet, including De- fense Minister Shimon Peres, Foreign Minister Yigal Allon, Finance Minister Yehoshua Rabinowitz and others. The Bond leaders also will attend a reception with President Ephraim Katzir and a dinner with former Prime Minister Golda Meir.
