MEATLESS
SPAGHETTI
SAUCES

You pour on Italian Ta'am,
when you glorify your spa-
ghetti with a sauce by Chef
Boy-Ar-Dees. His home-
style Meatless or Mushroom
Sauce makes it a richly deli-
cious dish. Use these superb
sauces to make the most of
meat loaf and pot roast. With
noodles and ricotta, you've
got a great lasagna. Wait till
you try them with omelets or
fish. Just keep plenty handy.
Between you and Chef Boy-
Ar-Dee, a family could never
go hungry.

ED BURG

Bale said it was his hope,
in sending the check, that it
would "help to neutralize
the thinking of some of these
students when they get a
letter from a Jewish organi-
zation."

The 33rd annual convention
of the Michigan Jewish War
Veterans re-elected Joe Bale
to serve as commander and
Irwin Chodak as senior vice
commander. Other newly
elected officers include Jack
Goyer, junior vice corn-
mander and Norman Moss,
judge advocate.
The ladies auxiliary elect-
ed Rita Goyer, president;
Violet List, senior vice presi-
dent and Gert Left, junior
vice president.
Arthur Lang was awarded
the Michigan JWV, Man of
the Year award. Tom Tannis,
Charles and Yetta Glass,
Dorothy Cohen and Morris
Kikoler were awarded special
commendations for their

The Arab Student Organi-
zation at the Detroit Institute
of Technology got a little
help from an unexpected
source in its effort to return
to Lebanon the body of a
young man who was slain by
bandits in the store where
he was working
Ahmad Elassard, who came
to Detroit last fall from a
'Palestinian refugee camp in
southern Lebanon, was work-
ing part-time in a grocery
store while attending DIT.
He had plans of returning
home after receiving a de-
gree in mechanical engineer-
ing.
At the end of June, while
he was spending his cus-
tomary two hours working in
the store, Elassard was slain
by gunmen who entered and
shot him. Two were caught
and charged with murder;
police thought there may be
a third.
On Monday night, the cof-
fin containing Elssard's
body was returned to Leba-
non, where his parents and
five sisters still live in a
camp. The Arab Student Or-
ganization issued an appeal
for funds to cover the $2,000
costs of shipping the coffin.
Joe Bale, commander of
the Jewish War Veterans De-
partment of Michigan, sent
a check for $5 to the DIT
Arab Student Organization
with the accompanying note:
"Those of us of the Judaic-
'Islamic tradition mourn the
senseless, useless slaying of
this gentle, handsome lad,
who had apparently picked
himself up by the 'bootstraps'
and set out to get a degree
in mechanical engineering to
better his way of life, and
ultimately to better serve his
people, who have been the
pawns in a political game for
over 25 years.
"All humanity cries out
for what could have been;
what contribution to the
peace of the world Ahmad
could have made. At a young
age, he choke the path of
education and righteous,
resolute advancement, rather
than the destructive path of
violence and terrorism."
The Arab student organiza-
tions on American campuses
have been among the more
militant anti-Israel groups.
