Cornel Popa and Stefan Stanescu, two of the group who were listed in a mani- festo signed by a group of Romanian Christians (May 3 Jewish News), naming them as members of the Iron Guard, have denied that past association in letters to The Jewish News. Much of the wording of the Popa and Stanescu letters was identical with that of a letter written earlier by V. Mircea Banciu and printed in last week's Jewish News. Stacey an- nounced that he will be a candidate for one of the two recently created vacancies in the 1st Appellate District of the Michigan Court of Ap- peals. Judge Stacey was the first to file nominating peti- tions for the Court of Ap- peals vacancy, which com- prises the Wayne, Washte- naw and Livingston counties. He was appointed to the Cir- cuit Court in 1971 to fill the vacancy left by John B. Swainson, elected justice of the State Supreme Court. Judge Stacey earned a BS degree in business adminis- tration from Wayne Univer- sity and received his law de- gree in 1950, also from Wayne.
