Kids Walk for Poor Jews in New York NEW YORK (JTA)—Over 250 young Jews from New York and Long Island re- cently walked 10 miles through Long Island raising $6,500 for the 400,000 Jewish poor of New York City. Meanwhile, a demonstra- 1 tion was held for three hours outside the offices of the Federation of Jewish Philan- thropies of New York to pro- test the "nonsectarian spend- ing of Jewish money while 400,000 poor Jews in New York City suffer." According to Elie Rosen, the head of the Association of Jewish, Anti-Poverty Work- ers, the protest was in re- sponse to the lack of service by FJP to the elderly Jewish poor in slum areas, and the merger of the FJP and the United Jewish AppePl. The latter would result in con- tributions to UJA going to non-Jews in New York City, Rosen said. Latin Jews Protest Anti-Semitic Books NEW YORK (JTA) — A display of anti-Semitic books at a Caracas book fair drew a letter of protest frOm the Jewish community's human rights office, the Bnai Brith Anti-Defamation League re- ported. In a letter to the president of the International Educa- tion Expo '74, the office cited four books — "The Interna- tional Jew," "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion," "Is- rael Commands"' and "Pro- tocols of the Bosses of Is- rael: A Secret Jewish Plan?" — for attempting "to impair Venezuelan democracy by introducing racial and re- ligious hatred." According to the ADL's Latin American affairs de- partment, Mexico City is the publishing center for anti- Semitica in the Spanish lan- guage. They are also exported to many Latin American coun- tries where anti-Semitic ele- ments subsidize their sale at reduced prices and are sold in the United States in neigh- borhood bookstores of cities with Spanish-speaking popu- lations. ticing dentist since 1926, died June 17 at age 71.
