He also was appointed to the Governor's Traffic Safety Commission and the Oakland County Traffic Safety Com- mission, chaired a condem- nation commission of Oakland County and is on the board of directorS of the Michigan Society of Mental Health, Oakland County Chapter. In 1961, Grant was Probate Court clerk and legal investi- gator for the mental health department of the Probate Court. He has been a mem- ber of the Representative Assembly of the State Bar of Michigan since 1972, and he was appointed to the family relations _committee of the State Bar. Testifying at a public hear- ing here, AAJE educator Max Nadel said that "if we cannot face the truth and reality of the Holocaust—no matter how frightful, shock- ing or depressing — its evil will beome blurred and will be ready • to reappear in a new generation, in another place, when society goes awry." Nadel, consultant to the AAJE's commission on Jew- ish studies in public schools, was invited to testify at a hearing convened by New York State Assemblyman Stephen J. He reported on a 1970 study of how public school social studies •textbooks treat- ed Nazi persecution of mi- nority groups, disclosing that 21 of 45 texts which were examined e i t h e r slighted, minimized or glossed over the subject, while another 13 omitted it entirely. Goldenthal, who has announced his candidacy on the Republican ticket for congressman from the 17th District, said his experience as an economist would be of great value in Washington since the majority of prob- lems considered by Congress are largely economic. Gold- enthal, whose wife Marilyn is chairman of social assist- ance of her ORT chapter, has lived in the 17th District for 10 years. He is a grad- uate in economics from Rut- gers University and has held many government positions, including assistant adminis- trator of the Federal Trans- portation Agency. He retired a year ago at age 55 after working at Ford Motor Co. since 1963. For five years he was chairman of the Vehicle Manufacturers' Transporta- tion Research Committee.
