village of Isfiya on * Mt. Car-
mel.
Kupat Holim Executive
Chairman Stefan Grayek said
the fund, which has an Arab
and Druze enrollment of
210,000 members, employs
50 doctors and 60 nurses in
villages ranging from the
Galilee and the Jezreel Val-
ley, to Jerusalem and the
Negev.
Current plans, he said, call
for six more clinics in those
areas next.year, including a
mobile unit serving 12 small
villages.
Grayek said a fourth clinic
is planned for Druze resi-
dents of the Golan Heights,
whereas under Syrian rule
before 1967, the region did
not have any permanent
clinics to serve its civilian
Arab or Druze population.
Six Arab students are now
studying medicine under
Kupat Holim scholarships in-
tended to spur training of
local residents to serve their
native villages.
