U.S. Jews Urged to Tighten Links
With Brethren Throughout World

SAN FRANCISCO (JTA )—
There is a need for American
Jewry to strengthen bonds
with counterpart communi-
ties throughout the world, ac-
cording to Charles Zibbell,
associate executive director
of the Council of Jewish
Federations and Welfare
Funds.
Zibbell, speaking to some
600 professional workers at
the 76th annual National
Conference of Jewish Com-
munal Service, said that in
strengthening Jewish- com-
munities in all countries,
communal programs must
be examined as to their ef-
fect on Jewish family struc-
ture, the unity of the Jewish
community, and on helping
younger Jews to identify as
Jews.
Also necessary for stronger
world-wide Jewish com-
munities is a better under-

standing by Israelis of Jew-
ish life outside Israel, Zibbell
said.
Samuel Katz, national di-
rector of the community ser-
vice department, American
Jewish Committee, was elect-
ed president of the NCJCS.
Dr. Arnulf M. Pins, execu-
tive director of the Memo-
rial Foundation for Jewish
Culture, told the conference
that the Yom Kippur War
shattered many myths which
had existed in the Jewish
world before last October, as
well as giving new perspec-
tives on issues and problems
which many Jews faced.
"The sudden and dramatic
events of last year and their
multiple consequences have
also resulted in both a feeling
of pessimism and concern
and a new sense of urgency
about the problems of Israel
and the Jewish people," Pins
said.
He called for greater effort
and commitment on the part
of professional communal
workers to make the chal-
lenges into opportunities for
'developing a stronger Amer-
ican Jewish community.

Sigmund Hellman, execu-
tive director of the Rhode
Island Jewish Community
Cente r, Providence, was
elected national president of
the Association of Jewish
Center Workers at its annual
meeting, held in conjunction
with the NCJCS.

Let's face it, this is a great time to buy a new car. Dealer stocks are high. They're

anxious to talk deals. And you just know price's are going up again soon enough.

You'll find interest rates on auto loans from banks consistently lower than

from other sources of financing. And you'll get the kind of personalized service

only a neighborhood bank can offer. So see your dealer and get the figures

first. Or, come in and pre-arr'ange financing.

At an NBS neighborhood bank, we can help you work out a 24- or 36-month auto

loan that fits your needs — and your budget. See us now, while you can

still drive a real bargain on a new car.
