A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, Hoff- man , an infantryman. in the European Theater, received a battlefield commission 'in 1943. He was promoted to captain in Korea. After his discharge from active duty he remained in a reserve status and retired three years ago with the rank of lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves. His military decorations in- clude two awards of the Sil- ver Star, the third highest decoration f o r individual bravely. His other combat wards include four Bronze Stars, five Purple Hearts for wounds received in battle and the Combat Infantry- man's Badge. Hoffman and his wife Net- tie have a son Alan, and two daughters, Renee and Mrs. Beverly Schindel. Hoffman is an officer in Bale Post of the Jewish War Veterans.
