JOE CORNELL NEVER
had such a big birthday party
. . . about 300 kids and 100
adults seeing him try to blow
out candles at his 24th An-
nual Dance Contest . . . Date
came out on Joe's birthday
and the lads 'n lassies
brought Uncle Joe a cake
with the kind of candles that
keep lighting up after being
poofed . . .
The dance contest, with
proceeds going to the Good-
fellows' fund, is Joe's annual
showcase that really shows
off his students . . . Mighty
proud are he and right hand
gal Helen Rosenberg as the
youngsters go through the
routines they've learned . .
watching with thrills 'n chills
while many boys and girls
who came to his school with
"two left feet" whirl about
the dance floor in gracious
style . . .
Winning couples were . .
Advanced division had a
first-place tie . . . Marla
Berlin and Jeffrey Weiss,
and Susan Owens and Jeff-
rey Pack . . . second place
went to Sherri Goldstein and
Mark Owens . . . Intermedi
ate division winners were
Alice Brody and Scott Mil-
grom . . . with second place
going to Debbie Kleinman
and Steven Lover . . . Joe's
Tri-Temple Cotillion class
was won by Margot Sherr
and Larry Mendelson . . .
Second place went to Shelly
Gold and Steve Mandell .. .
Third place to Helene Brod-
sky and Neal Spector . . .

LEO AND MILDRED
MERTZ have found a way to
help their sons, Steven, 16,
and Howard, 14, beat the
energy situation . . . They
bought them one of those old-
fashioned ice cream wagon
bicycles that has the refrig-
erated case up front filled
with dry ice . . . The two
young men go down the
street selling ice cream . . .
but bagel baron Leo of
Goldin Bagel, would probably
be happier if they had an in-
sulated hot box and sold his
product instead . . . or may-
be the frozen variety.
BROTHERS-IN-LAW mar-
ried to twin sisters, Marvin
Sellins (Phoebe) and Nate
Paige (Esther), both cele-
brated their 60th birthdays
recently at the Furniture
Club . . . Attendance almost
matched the years—about 60.
SPORTS NIGHT LINEUP

June 24, at Raleigh House,
will touch almost every
sport in Detroit, with figures
ofyesterday, today and to-
morrow on the podium . . .
It'll be open to friends . . .
Sol Lakind is Crescent enter-
tainment chairman . . . with
the sports night being chaired
by Iry Tasco.
NOVEL EVENING BY
Sheruth League was both a
social and monetary success
. . . thanks to the members
who care . . . This very fine
group whose work for indi-
gent youngsters is widely
noted, had a small but en-
thusiastic crowd at its S.S.
Bermuda Queen Fiesta . . .
Raleigh House was the site
as Jack Barnes put on a
Latin revue with three lovely
lassies and Panchito's band
. .. Much fun with audience
participation in things like a
Latin rock session . . . Win-
ning ticket picked by Sam
Marcus, executive director
of Fresh Air Camp, was won
by Arlene and Max Schafer
. . . who gave it back to be
auctioned off . . .
Nov. 5 will be a big day
for Shirley and Max - Wa3 -
burn, who bought the ticket
for $250 and will be off on
the wonderful vacation . . .
This is Sheruth League's 30th
year in a long line of great
endeavors ... as example its
dream of a camp for emo-
. tionally disturbed children
now a reality ... The Nathan
and Esther Silverman camp
at Ortonville will ready
for this summer camping
season . . . and the Sheruth
League Cabin also will be
dedicated this summer.
SOL LEWIS tells of the
girl getting a job wrestling
octopi at a state fair . . . She
was darn good at it, too .. .
getting her training going to
a different drive-in movie
with a different fellow every
evening during the spring.
Be early what, if you are
not, you will, when it is too
late, wish you had been.—

Pistons Up Price
of Season Tickets
NEWS
Twr
The Detroit Pistons will
raise season tickets prices
for the 1974-75 basketball
season, without raising the
prices of its single game tic-
kets, it was announced by
Edwin E. Coil, general man-
ager.
The new prices, which rep-
resent a $38 increase per
seat, are as follows: $266 for
$7 seats, $228 for $6 seats and
$190 for the $5 seats. With
the increase, season ticket
fans are entitled to a three
game bonus — three games
free.
Subscribers will be assured
of the same seats plus an
additions seat for each sea-
son ticket purchased, for all
rounds of the 1975 playoffs.

tion, call the Pistons' office,
