Seek Volunteers
to Ease Israel's
Manpower Needs

If the Yom Kippur War is
over, the effects of the war
are not. As many volunteers
return to •the U. S. following
their promised six months of
service, a call has gone out
for young Americans to take
their place to help relieve
the manpower shortage.
At the end of June, the
first group will depart as
participants in Project Etgar
(Challenge), a six - month
volunteer program under the
auspices of the American
.Zionist Youth Foundation.
They will spend 11/2 months
learning Hebrew in an ulpan,
three months working on a
kibutz or moshav and 1 1/2
months of additional work
chosen by the invididual
volunteer. There also will be
outings and educational
seminars.
Volunteers have the option
of extending their participa-
tion beyond the initial six
months. They must pay their
own air fare, but they will
receive a small allowance
while working to cover living
expenses. Limited subsidies
will be available.
Young people from age 18
(high school graduates) to
30 are eligible to join Etgar.
