Judge Jacob Weinberger,
one of the most colorful
American Jews, the last sur-
viving member of the consti-
tutional convention that es-
tablished the state of Arizo-
na, in Phoenix, in 1910, died

92.
Born in Czechoslovakia,
Jan. '7, 1882, Judge Wein-
berger was brought to this
country in 1889.
He was senior judge of the
U. S. District Court in Cali-
fornia since 1957 and a U. S.
District Court judge since
1946.
He began to practice law
in 1904.
His participation as a dele-
gate to the Arizona constitu-
tional convention was as a
delegate from the state's
Giles County.
Judge Weinberger was an
active Bnai Brith member
for many years.

weigh the consequences of

Israel Korn, 85;
Had Variety Store

Israel Korn, retired owner
of Korn's Dry Goods on Oak-
land Ave., a variety store
specializing in men's cloth-
ing, for more than 30 years,
died May 17 at age 85.
Born in Austria, Mr. Korn
served in the Austrian army
during World War I and was
captured by the Russians
and held in Siberia for four
years. He lived in Detroit
for 38 years and resided at
25515 Greenfield, Southfield.
He leaves his wife, Rachel;
two daughters, Mrs. Leo
(Lanie) Baron and Mrs.
Arthur (Onnie) Goldberg; a
sister, Mrs. Frank (Helen)
Moskovitz of Washington,
D.C.; four grandchildren and
six great-grandchildren.

Bernard Klein , 73 ;
Property Broker

Bernard Klein, a retired
real estate broker, died May
20 at age 73.
Born in Hungary, Mr. Klein
lived 50 years in Detroit and
for the past six years in Bay
Harbor Island, Fla. In De-
troit, he was a member of
Cong. Bnai Moske for 50
years. He was a member of
Cong. Ner Tamid in Miami
Beach, and a member of
Bnai Brith, Zionist Organiza-
tion Of America and Miz-
rachi.
He leaves his wife, Mar-
garet; two sons, Kenneth A.
and Robert A. of Northridge,
Calif.; a brother, Morris; a
sister, Mrs. Serene Matyas
of Jerusalem; and six grand-
children. Interment Detroit.

Maurice Schwartz,
Longtime Attorney

Maurice Schwartz, a long-
time Detroit attorney with
offices at 384 City National
Bank Building, died May 18
at age 76.
Born in Poland, Mr.
Schwartz, 26010 Stratford,
Oak Park, practiced law in
Michigan from 1921 until his
death. He was graduated
from the University of De-
troit's law school in 1919 and
was a member of the Michi-
gan Bar Association. He
served as an assistant prose-
cuting attorney in Michigan
in 1930.
He is survived by his wife,
Betty; two sons, Howard N.
of Geneva, Switzerland, and
Allen L.; a brother, Al of
Los Angeles; four sisters,
Mrs. Louis (Pearl) Stiller-
man, Mrs. Sarah Barnes and
Mrs. Molly Shapiro, all of
Los Angeles, and Mrs. Belle
Clayman; and two grand-
children.
