The Solomon Schechter Medal is awarded to persons whose efforts in behalf of the seminary stand in the tradi- tion of the scholar, thinker, rabbi and leader who served from 1902 to 1915 as the sem- inary's second president. Mrs. Adler, a graduate of the seminary's Teachers Insti- tute, is the first member of a rabbinical family to be ac- corded the honor.
