Director Picked

Mrs. David Megdell, chair-
man of the Flint Jewish
Community Council day
camp committee, announced
the appointment of Beverly
K. Seigel as director of
Camp Maccabee this sum-
mer.
Mrs. Seigel majored in
education for the physically
handicaped and nursery
school education at Ohio
State University, Western
Reserve University and the
University of Michigan. Prior
to moving to Flint, she
taught religious school at
Temple Beth Israel, Lima,
0., for 10 years. She also has
taught at Flint's Temple
Beth El for the past four
years.
Former assistant coordina-
tor for the Mott Program's
pre-school art program, she
has taught art and macrame
for the YWCA and currently
is a pre-school director at
the Flint YWCA.
Mrs. Seigel organized the
Ohio Valley Temple Youth
group and served as its ad-
viser for three years. She
served on the religious school
board of Temple Beth Israel
and was program chairman
for the sisterhood.
Within the next few weeks,
Mrs. Seigel will interview ap-
plicants for junior and senior
counselors.
There still are openings for
campers. Parents who are
interested in registering their
children for the day camp
July 8-26 at the Holiday Hill
Camp site, may contact the
Council office, 767-5922.

Teens Get Into Spirit of Fast
for Freedom, Seek Out Sponsors

Local teen-agers are pre-
paring for the June "Fast
for Freedom" — a means of
protesting against the treat-
ment of Jews in Russia and

Youth on
the Move

"Faty Graffitti," a dance
to be held in the '50s and
'60s dress mod; will be
sponsored by the Flint Area
Temple Teens (FATY) 8:30
p.m. May 18 at Temple Beth
El. The dance is open to 8th-
12th graders and will feature
a local disc jockey playing
recorded music. There will
be a reduced admission fee
for those dressed "in style."

Tween Bowlers will meet
for games, food and trophies

seems well assured. The
prestigious London publish-
ing firm of Weidenfeld and
Nicholson has offered Gen.
Dayan the record-breaking
sum of $450,000 for exclusive
rights to his autobiography,
which is $200,000 more than
the same publishers were
willing to pay for Golda
Meir's life story. •
