Kahane Wants
World Jewish
Terror Unit
JERUSALEM (JTA) '\13-
bi Meir Kahane, fount. ___))of
the Jewish Defense League,
called for the creation of a
world-wide Jewish terrorist
organization with the clande-
stine backing of the Israeli
government, to counter Arab
terrorist groups and exact
vengeance for their acts.
Kahane, who announced
earlier that he was resigning
as chairman of the JDL,
made his proposals on the \
site of the former Arab
lage of Deir Yassin which \
destroyed along with its in-
habitants by the Irgun short- `\
ly before Israel's independ-
ence.
The Deir Yassin massacre
was condemned by the Jew-
ish authorities in Palestine
at the time.
Kahane's "solution" to the ;
problem of Arab terrorism \,
was, he stated, to imitate the
Arab terrorists act-for-act,
shooting hostages and bring-
ing counter terror to Arab
civilians in their own coun-
tries. In addition, he also re-
iterated his plan to encour-
age the emigration of Israeli
Arabs by offering them cash
and jobs in other countries. \I
According to Kahane, the
Israeli government should
aid the Jewish terrorist move-
ment while denying any con-
nection with it, "just as Arab -(
governments do."
(In New York, David
Fisch, national executive di-
rector of the Jewish Defense
League, said that the JDL
will continue its 'activities
despite Rabbi Kahane's resig-
nation as head of the group.
Speaking at a press con-
ference, Fisch said that his
organization will continue
fighting all manifestations of \
anti-Semitism and contended
that Kahane will stillmain-
tain a position with the JDL
as a "spiritual adviser."
Fisch denied that Kahane's
resignation had anything to
do with a deal between Ka-
hane and Israeli authorities
regarding the return of his
American passport which -Is- -(
raeli authorities confiscated.
In Los Angeles Barry Tcru-
gel and five other me
of the Jewish Defense LE-bile
have filed a $6,500,000 false
arrest and battery suit
against the city.
The suit, filed in Los An-
geles Superior Court, charges
that police officers, in viola- )-`,
tion of Krugel's civil rights )
invaded JDL headquarters
Aug. 7, 1973, illegally arrest-
ing him and wrongfully con-
fiscating 10 of his rifles.
The suit further charged
that Irving Rubin, Mort Zus-
serman, Earl Krugel, Phil `.
Goodman and Greg Frug
were wrongfully arrested and
assulted by the police out- )
side JDL's headquarters on
Sept. 7, 1973.
