The purpose of the fast,
according to Gail Feinstein
and Jonathan Gotlib, chair-
men, is to bring to the atten-
tion of the community the
plight of Jews in Russia and
Arab lands.
"We are holding a fast as
a protest against harassment
• of Jews in Russia, Syria, Iraq
and other Moslem countries,"
said Jonathan. "We want to
help the world realize that
not only are these people
harassed, but they aren't
given the freedom to leave
these countries, or to live
in dignity." The fast will be-
gin with a Havadala service.
Each participant will sign
up sponsors for each hour
of the fast, as the teens try
to raise money for the Jews
in Russia, and for the hu-
manitarian needs of the
peaple of Israel.
Co-chairman are Merle
Brezinsky and Barbara
Levey.

Dorsey Tackles
Ethical Codes
Psychologically

Ethical codes from many
source s, the philosophic
teachings that have influ-
enced mankind, the works of
many peoples are drawn
upon for an evaluation of
"Psychology of Ethic s,"
which is the title of the new
book by the eminent teacher
and psychiatric student, Dr.
John M. Dorsey, University
Professor of Wayne State
University.
Linked with his "Psychol-
ogy of Ethics" is Dr. Dor-
sey's combined study of re-
lated psychologies: those of
political science, language
and emotion.
Dr. Dorsey again cham-
pions a basic ideal which has
been a principle in his
studies and teachings: obedi-
ence to the development of
a conscious self-wholeness.
"My allness" thus became
one of his mottoes. He as-
serts:
"It is through my realiza-
tion that any and all of my
behavior is restricted abso-
lutely to the living of my
own self identity that I wish
to, and must, extend to my
living of my fellow man the
identical selfishly protective
concern I indulge regarding
all of my responsible living
of myself. My fully function.
ing ethical principle is the
product of my acknowledge-
able self wholeness."
In an appendix, "My Ethi-
coreligious Living," Dr. Dor-
sey offers definitions, among
them is: "Judaism: Man is
created in the image of God.
Johovah means: I Am, I Am
That I Am, rendered in the
Greek version of the Seventy
`I Am He That Is.' "
Another appendix, Glos-
sary, contains 11 pages of
wise sayings that add im-
measurably, epigrammatical-
ly, to the wisdom packed
into this book.

Israel Housing

Cost May Rise
30-50 Pct. by '75

TEL AVIV (ZINS) — Eco-
nomic circles are saying that
if the government does not
act quickly to correct the
situation, housing costs in
Israel will climb far beyond
the reach of all except
millionaires. If present trends
continue, housing costs will
zoom upwards by 30 to 50
per cent by the year 1975.
Those close to the scene
predict an eventual price tag
of IL 500,000 ($125,000) for a
three-room flat in the more
desirable sections of Tel
Aviv.
The building industry con-
tends that government is in
a position to reverse this
spiral by placing on the
market, at reasonable prices,
sizable building plots now in
its possession. (92 per cent
of Israel's total acreage is
government-owned).
Builders point to the fact
that even in densely-popu-
lated Tel Aviv the govern-
ment holds lands that could
accommodate tens of thou-
sands of dwelling units, for
example, the 100-dunam area
containing a group of one-
story structures that house
government offices in the
center-city "Kirya."

The word "Jew" is clearly stamped in
big bold letters on the internal passport of
every Soviet Jew.
No other religious or ethnic group is
afforded this unique distinction. Just one
more blatant example of Soviet prejudice
against Jews.
In recent months, Jewish cemeteries have
been demolished, synagogues have been
boarded up, and Jews wishing to emigrate
hay.:. been harassed, beaten and thrown
in jail.
And so far this year, emigration has been
cut by.more than 25%.
If Soviet Jews ever needed you, they need
you now.
