German Rabbinical
Institute Planned

HEIDELBERG — With the
preliminary discussions now
having been-completed after
about one year, there are no
further obstacles to the
establishment of a Jewish
theological institute here.
The institute will train
rabbis, Jewish religious
teachers and cantors for all
German-speaking and the
Scandinavian countries.
At the, beginning of Jan-
uary complete agreement
was reached between repre-
sentatives of the Central
Council of the Jews in Ger-
many and of the High Coun-
cil of the Israelites in Baden
on the one hand and the
ministry of education in
Stuttgart and the University
of Heidelberg on the other,
and the plan was unanimous-
ly approved by the Academic
Senate.
The institute's constituent
meeting is to be held in May
or June and it is expected
that courses can commence
in the summer of 1975 in
temporary accommodation.
