Toy to to Kissinger Newlyweds Foreign Minister A b b a Eban also sent congratula- tions to the newlyweds, add- ing a personal note to his colleague: "I always knew you were a man of decision." While the Israeli leaders sent t h e i r congratulations abroad, some Israelis be- lieved Monday that the new couple was in Israel for its honeymoon. Israel Radio, in its early afternOon newsreel, broadcast an urgent item, saying the Kissingers arrived in Israel for a surprise visit. _ The reporter introduced in- serts, with Kissinger's au- thentic voice, in which the secretary of state expressed his delight to be in. Israel again and Specified some of his plans here. After the first surprise, it took many listen- ers quite a while to under- stand that the story was an April. Fool's hoax and that the inserts were transplanted from Kissinger's statements in his many — past — visits to Israel. "The marriage operation Was typical Kissinger," com- mented the Israeli daily Maa- riv. Only hours before the civil ceremony, the secretary of state was meeting with Israeli D e f e n s e Minister Moshe Dayan - about disen- gagement of Israeli and Syrian forces on the Golan Heights. "Now it is clear why the Syrian delegate will come to Washington only in 10 days . . . to enable Mr. Kissinger a 10-day honeymoon," the newspaper said. "The . operation to unify hearts was far shorter than the operation to separate forces." 1 When one is contented, I there is no more to be de- sired; and when there is no more to be desired, there is an end of it. — Miguel De Cervantes.
