of Jacob and Joseph'
"The Story of Jacob and
Joseph," a two-hour special
filmed entirely in Israel be-
fore, during and after the
Yom Kippur War, will be
shown 8:30 p.m. Sunday on
Channel 7.
Dr. David Noel Freedman,
director of the program of
religious studies at the Uni-
versity of Michigan and co-
editor of the Anchor Bible
Series, will be archeological-
editor and consultant on the
show.
The film, which recounts
the story of the biblical
patriarchs, will feature Col-
leen Dewburst, Keith Michell,
Herschel Bernardi and Tony
LoBianco. Michael Caco-
yannis is director. The show
was produced by Mildren
Freed Alberg in association
with Screen Gems.
Ms. Alberg, who is the
winner of two- Peabody
Awards and four Emmys,
said that the show is filmed
where the biblical story took
place, "the hill country of
Canaan, now Israel, and the
area of Beersheva, and where
the Bible tells us Jacob and
Joseph lived in their tent
encampment."
"The Story of Jacob and
Joseph," written by Ernest
Kinoy with a brief narration
by Alan Bates, recalls the
patriarchs and their way of
life in detail.
Despite the Arab-Israeli
War, which interrupted but
did not stop the filming, "The
Story of Jacob and Joseph"
was the only film which con-
tinued through the conflict.
Screen Gems plans to pro-
duce a series of biblical
specials in association with
Ms. Alberg as a result of
her success with the film.
