the gals, biggest of all was
the sitter service arranged
for the shindig . . . Arrange-
ments chairman was Sandra
Brown (Stephen) and coor-
dinating chair-lassies were
Charon Chudnow (Sol) and
Bernice Allen (Daniel).
TWO BUILDINGS HAVE
been given through local-ites
. . . to SOCK (Safe Our
Community Through Kind-
ness) . . . founded by Al
Foon and Manny Segel . . .
Site on Gratiot for use as a
medical clinic and adult and
youth activity spot was do-
nated by Dr. Neal and Anita
Millman and Dr. Ralph and
Edith Weiss . . . Structure
on corner of Mack and St.
Jean being called the Sister
touise Tot and Teen Center
is the gift of a client of at-
torney Lou Barden . . . Quite
nice that people in the
suburbs do care about De-
troit.
HIS TWO GRANDSONS
SPENT recent evening with
Eli Spri4ger . . . Richard,
11, and Ronald, 6, sons of
daughter Elayne Levitsky
. . . Eli gave each a new
half dollar . . . and Richard
said, "Poppa, you don't have
to pay us to • spend the night
with you."
BEA GOULD writes from
Los Angeles of the Madison
Athletic Club former De-
troiters group . .. "The past
few months have been the
scene of much activity in the
California southl and.
"The month of December
`saw the arrival for a three-
month visit of Sam and Cele
Jacobs. They arrived in time
to be present at the second
annual New Year's Eve
party at the' home of Erwin
and Bea Gould. February
saw the arrival of Roy and
Harriet StWart and Ludwig
and Molly Boraks. Members
of the group got together as
often as they were able, to
visit with the Michiganders.
"During February, the 50th
wedding anniversary of Ben
and Eva Norman was cele-
brated at the Kirkeby Center
Resaturant. After dinner, the
group retired to the home of
the Goulds for the rest of
the evening 's festivities,
which included the presence
of_ Rabbi and Mrs. Joshua
Sperka, also visiting from the
Detroit area. Rabbi Sperka
delivered an inspiring mes-
sage to the Normans which
culminated with a cham-
pagne toast.
"The March meeting was
hosted by a dinner for all by
Morris and Sarah Klanman,
who were celebrating their
49th anniversary. The group
then retired to the home of
Ben and Clara Simons and
was the scene of lively dis-

cussion, as nominations for
president, secretary and en-
tertainment chairman were
held. The incumbent officers,
Maurice Levin (president),
Phil Goodman (secretary)
and Morris Shurgin (enter-
tainment chairman), were
unanimously re-elected and
awarded a stipend double of
that which they had received
previously (nothing!).
"As this report is being
typed, the departure of Lud-
wig and Molly Boraks is in
the offing, and your reporter
is sorry to say that we will
all miss the visitors from
Michigan and already look
forward to their next visit.
Cheerio!"
JOE AND FAY STAL-
BURG celebrate ther 50th
wedding anniversary tomor-
row night . . . with remem-
brances of when Joe came
here from Toronto in 1924
and went to visit a relative
who stayed at Fay Shain-
bain's house . . Joe says
he met a boy friend of hers
there and didn't like his
looks . .. "I decided to take
her away from him" . .
Joe did a pretty good job of
it . .. married a year later
. and now celebrating a
half century together.
ICE GALORE COVERED
the car of builder Irwin
Stein last week . . . and next
day while driving to the of-
fice, a huge glob chunked
off his hood knocking smack
into his windshield . . . Lucky
for Irwin that no cars were
in his path as the windshield
smashed to smithereens and
his car swerved all over the
road . .. Irwin never should
have left the house in the
first place, says wife Peggy
. . . Especially since it was
his day off!
