Motor Skills
Aided by Class

Creative Rhythmics, classes
in coordination designed to
strengthen motor skills in
preschoolers, are offered at
the Jewish Center by Mrs.
Lilo Fauman who developed
the technique.
The classes, designed to
teach proper coordination, ef-
ficient body movement and
better awareness' of space
relationships, also help shy
children to participate.
Trained as a dancer in Eu-
rope, Mrs. Fauman suggests
that passive forms of leisure
have a detrimental effect on
a child's abilities.
"A significant number of
all youngsters entering school
can't pass standard strength
and efficiency tests," she
said. "Children live in a
Plastic world; they can't
hop, skip, or jump properly
because most toys children
get don't offer these skills."
She also said that studies
show that children tire easily
with the new toys because
they demand little involve-
ment, unlike the scooters of
the past which taught them
how to balance.
