In a Passover message is-
sued as general chairman of
the United Jewish Appeal,
Paul Zuckerman added a
Fifth Question to the Four
Questions asked at the seder
on Passover:
"What more can we do as
individuals and as a family
to insure the survival of our
people in Israel and of Jews
everywhere?"
Zuckerman thereupon pro-
ceeded to provide the an-
swer:
"Despite the destruction,
loss of life and personal
tragedy, the people of Israel
continue to keep the doors
of freedom open . . . continue
to provide a haven for those
fleeing oppression. But, it is
we who must provide the
essential services for all new-
comers, to enhance their
quality of life, .so that they
may become self-sufficient,
productive members of Is-
raeli society.
"The level and quality of
response from the American
Jewish community since the
Yom Kippur War has been
unlike any other experience
in the history of Jewish life
in this country. It is a tri-
bute to our maturity and
understanding . . . a graphic
demonstration of our oneness
with the people of Israel.
And now, we must take that
maturity and understanding
and redouble our efforts .. .
to bring our response to new
heights . . to sustain in
creases in overall giving to
meet the overwhelming hu-
man need that exists.
"On all other nights, our
thoughts and concerns are
for each other. This Passover,
our hearts and prayers are
with Jewish people every-
where, especially in Israel.
Let us resolve to give as we
have never given before, and
observe this year's celebra-
tion of freedom with a dra-
matic outpouring of love and
concern for our brothers in
Israel."
United Order True Sisters,
Inc., Detroit 41, announces
the selection of the first re-
cipients of two postdoctoral
research fellowships estab-
lished through a $25,000 an-
nual grant to the University
of Tennessee, Oak Ridge
Graduate School of Biomedi-
cal Sciences.
The recipients are Corazon
Bucana, a citizen of the Phil-
ippines, and John C. Lee of
Hong Kong.
The grant, established last
year by UOTS, will make it
possible for the two recipi-
ents to carry out research in
cancer immunology at Oak
Ridge National Laboratory
Biology Division.
Studies there have provided
insight into the immunologic
mechanism by which agents
can program the body to at-
tack cancer cells.

Sisters, Inc. is a nonprofit
group of 13,000 women in 43
chapters throughout the U.S.
The organization has made
cancer its national project.
