Black Political-Parley Delegates Condemn U.S. Aid to Israel LITTLE ROCK, 'Ark. — Delegates to the national Black Political Convention here adopted resolutions con- demning American aid to Israel at the expense of the Arab refugees, but refused to go along with another call- ing for a separate black political party. The resolution, after being toned down from its original call for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Arab land, "condemns the racism of all racist officials" who voted aid to Israel "while ignoring the plight of Arab Palestinian refugees." This resolution was seen as a victory against the hardline black militants who had sought a much stronger resolution accusing Israel of being "major instrument" of a U.S. - dictated "w o r 1 d strategy of monopoly to in- crease profits and exploit all people." (- The stronger resolution was introduced by the New Jer- sey delegation. Only three of the 16 black Congressmen voted against aid to Israel. They were John Conyers of Michigan, Parren Mitchell of Maryland and Ronald V. Dellums• of California, all Democrats. The resolution condemning Israel was the object of a bitter behind-the-scenes fight over the weekend as mili- tants led by Imamu Baraka from Newark (f or merly known as LeRoi Jones), sought to tie in the anti- Israel statement with a gen- eral resolution calling for the destruction of "racism, capi- talism and imperialism." Leaders from the New York and Indiana delegations, who sought to water down the resolution to prevent a bitter floor fight, noted their op- position for the record. They told the 1,200 dele- gates at the convention that there was "considerable op- , position" to the more mod- erate resolution, Baraka attacked Black members of Congress who voted to help Israel in its struggle against the •Arabs. Baraka said the U. S. had stood by and watched thou- sands of Africans .die of famine and drought: He said he would like to see a "uni- fied Black front" that would "attack those who have been attacking us." The three-day convention, which drew about 3,000per- sons, 1,718 of whom were registered, tabled a resolu- tion calling for establishment of a national black political party. Delegates said the convention has not done the necessary local organizing to set up one IF YOU HAVE THE SLIGHTEST IDEA OF BUYING A NEW CAR NOW OR IN THE NEAR FUTURE -DO IT NOWT SEE AVIS FORD NOW - OUR LOSS IS YOUR GAIN FOR YOU THIS IS A REAL GENUINE OPPORTUNITY 240 LTDs 80 T-BIRDS for example Stk. #996 Discounted 94 TORINOS for example Stk. #1139 Discounted for example Stk. #1491 Discounted Hillel Yiddish Class- at 31 Universities NEW YORK — Yiddish classes are being conducted at 31 universities at the Bnai Brith Hillel Foundations in cooperation with the Labor Zionist Alliance, through grants made 'available by the Farband Foundation and the Deanin Foundation, Jacob Katzman, executive vice president of the Labor Zion- ist Alliance, reported.
