Magen David Appeals

for Blood Donations'

DR. A. S. ROGOFF

TEL AVIV — At a press
conference held at Magen Da-
vid Adom headquarters, Prof.
Moshe Many, executive chair-
man of MDA (Israel's Red
Cross Service), launched a
nationwide appeal to recruit
blood donors in order to meet
a critical shortage that has
prevailed since the end of
the Yom Kippur War.
Prof. Braha Ramot, head
of MDA National 'Blood
Services, and director of the
hematology department at
the Chaim Sheba Medical
Center in Tel Hashomer,
stressed the fact that donors
are often reluctant to donate
blood more than once a year.
She said: "It is possible to
donate blood four times a
year without danger or dis-
comfort."
Prof. Ramot directed a
special appeal at women,
noting that statistics show
that women rarely donate
blood. The reason is that in
peacetime blood is collected
at places of work where worn-
still constitute a small per-
centage of the working force.

Dr. A. S. Rogoff's election
to the presidency of the
Detroit Historical Society
was announced this week.
Other new officers are:
Dr. Henry Green, vice presi-
dent; Walter Field, treas-
urer; Mesdames S. R. Eas-
ton, Bernard Panush and
Irving I. Edgar, recording,
financial and corresponding
secretaries.
The current issue of Mich-
igan Jewish History publish-
ed by the society contains an
article by Prof. Robert A.
Rockaway of Tel Aviv Uni-
versity on "The Progress of
Reform Judaism. in Detroit."
Another article, by Irving I.
