Yeager Candidate
for State Senate

Weldon 0. Yeager, former
state representative and ac-
tive leader in the Republican
Party for the past two dec-
ades, announced that he
will seek the Republican
nomination for the State Sen-
ate in the new Eighth Mich-
igan Legislative District.
The new district, a result of
the 1 9 7 2 reapportionment
which gave the State Senate
districts new boundaries, in-
cludes Rochester, Bloomfield
Hills, Birmingham, Troy and
West Bloomfield.

Miss Selik attends Wayne
State University where she
is majoring in library sci-
ence. Her fiance was grad-
uated from Wayne State.
An August wedding is
planned.

Ave., Oak Park, and Mr.
Nate Scharff, of Morton
Ave., Oak Park, announce
the engagement of their
daughter Elyse Marcie to
Steven Alan Bright, son of
Mr. and Mrs. George Bright
of Carmona Ave., Southfield.
Miss Scharff attended
Wayne State University. Her
fiance was graduated from
Michigan State University
and is a junior at the Detroit
College of Law.
A July wedding is planned.

Israel's Disadvantaged Youth Create

Fashions to Be Shown by Pioneer Women

The Greater Detroit Coun-
cil of Pioneer Women will
hold its annual membership
luncheon and fashion show
noon Thursday at the Labor
Zionist Institute.
Paul Winter, WJR music-
talk show host, will act as
commentator in the presenta-
tion of Israeli originals from
a purple suede pant suit and
an appliqued and pearl em-
broidered crepe wedding
gown to a printed wool day-
time dress with matching
cape and a garnet velvet
skating outfit.
All of the fashions have
been designed by students of
couture art, who have been
given the opportunity to de-
velop their talents through
Pioneer Women social serv-
ices. The students repre-
sented in this show are drawn
from the less advantaged
segment of society — one

from Morroco, another from
the Soviet Union and still an-
other from the Frank Sinatra
Community Center in Naza-
reth, exclusively for Arab
students.

year at a banquet during/
Jaycee Week.

Michigan delegates attending the American Jewish Con-
gress national biennial convention in New York are Mes-
dames Arnold Frank, George Rubin, Milton Schwartz and
Albert Silber. Mrs. Silber will attend the eight day AJCon-
gress Mission to Israel immediately following the conven-
tion, for meetings and briefing sessions with Israeli leaders.
