SUPPORT THE MIZRACHI MOOS CHITIM CAMPAIGN
Mizrachi Passover Mo'os Hitim Drive
Marks 25th Year Israel Relief Project
Renewing its Passover Mo'os Hitim appeal, in
preparation for, efforts to tontine the relief
project in Israel, the Detroit Mizrachi-Hapoel
Hamizrachi leaders stated that increased needs
add to the importance of this year's appeal.
Explaining the earlier effort for the Passover
relief appeal, Zvi Tomkiewicz, executive director
of the local Mizrachi movement, pointed out
that there is a marked increase in the number
of families to be assisted with traditional Pass-
over foods and that it is urgent that there be
many more and larger contributions towards the
Mo'os Hitim fund for Israel through Mizrachi.
"This year marks the 25th anniversary of our
sponsorship of this Mo'os Hitim fund for Israel's
needy," Tomkiewicz said. "We have assisted
many thousands with our assignments for foods
to be secured from Israel's supermarkets. Our
task is in accordance with tradition and it fills a
great need."
Tomkiewicz said that the increased numbers
of Russian and other settlers in Israel who ar-
rive penniless has provided a vast load of
recipients of assistance from Mizrachi.
Tomkiewicz pointed to the urgency of the
present situation, as a result of the added wants
created by the Yom Kippur War and the num-
ber of orphaned and widowed who are in
dire need for Passover relief.
"The new miseries imposed upon Israel de-
mand our more generous response to the
Mo'os Hitim appeal," Tomkiewicz emphasized.
The time for action is urgent," Tomkiewicz
said, "and we hope the response will be as
generous as in the past and from more people,
and as prompt as the arising needs demand."
Tomkiewicz pointed out that for the first 17
years of Mizrachi's efforts the Mo'os Hitim as-
sistance was in cooperation with CARE. Changing
conditions enabled Mizrachi to deal directly with
Israel supermarkets to provide relief for many
families and to assure operation of the tasks
with American dollars exchanged in Israel for
needed foods.
