Navy's Plan to Aid Saudi Forces
WASHINGTON — Ainslee
R. Ferdie, national com-
mander of the Jewish War
Veterans, expressed outrage
over a recent disclosure by
syndicated columnist Jack
Anderson that the U.S. Navy
is reportedly undertaking a
program to construct several
classes of ships for the
Royal Saudi Naval Force.
"Faisal has shown nothing
but contempt for the people
of the U.S.," said Ferdie,
"and at a time when so many
Americans may be victim-
ized by Arab oil blackmail,
it is inconceivable to justify
assistance to the Saudis.
At 20 years of age the will
reigns; at 30 the wit; at 40
" the judgment. — Benjamin
Franklin.
"Neither a lasting peace in
the Middle East nor our pos-
ture as a resolute world
power will benefit from an
offer of military assistance
to Saudi Arabia.
"Moreover, it is disturbing
to learn of an American at-
tempt to placate Faisal on
the same day reports indi-
cate his distribution of anti-
Semitic tracts to visiting
Fr ench journalists. The
Pentagon should reconsider
any and all military pro-
grams for Saudi Arabia."
