Nriemeas ■■ ALIYAH MEANS LIVING IN ISRAEL Aliyah Month 1974 February 10th to March 10th The time is now. "Something is beginning to move" concerning Trifa's case in the U.S.A., the rabbi noted. He referred to a 20- year effort on the part of the ADL and other Jewish groups to institute a re- evaluation of Trifa's status as a naturalized U.S. citizen. Currently the Immigration and Naturalization Services of the Justice Department is deciding if a full-scale inves- tigation of the case should be made. The Yom Kippur War brought home to us more than ever how few we are and how vital it is for us to grow and to grow quickly. In those days of bloody fighting and of isolation, we drew courage and strength from the stand of the Jew- ish people, which demonstrated in its acts of identi- fication with us that we are indeed one people. It is hard to express in words how much this strengthened our spirit. But that is not enough. The meaning of a Jewish State is first and foremost an aliyah-oriented State, a State to which thousands of our brethren will im- migrate and in which they will be absorbed. A strong Israel, an Israel whose future and fate are in her own hands—means an Israel in which many millions of Jews are building their homes. For us, aliyah is our life-blood. Confident in our own stand, convinced of our in-= herent ability to overcome all difficulties, believing in the Jewish people, I call upon you: Come to Israel and build the Land. Prime Minister Melt. THE WORLD ZIONIST ORGANIZATION'S ANSWER Today, more than ever, Israel needs Jews who will come on Aliyah and join us—with their talent, energy, professional skills, experience and devotion—in building a free Jewish society, a commonwealth founded on values and deeds that shall attract every Jew. Therefore, Israel today ap .ieals to Jews everywhere: Let all those whose hearts are attuned to the call of Jewish history and who are prepared to back Israel without fear or hesitation—let them and their families emigrate to Israel now. Come and join us in the thousands. Stand with us in the most fateful struggle in the history of the Jewish people. Immigration to Israel today means: Jewish self-realization in its highest form: the-practice of Zionism to the highest degree. Respond to the challenge and come to build Israel—a superb edifice for future generations. Leon Duizin Acting Chairman, World Zionist Organization AN AMERICAN CALL FOR ACTION In answer to Prime Minister Meir's plea for increased aliyah, as well as that of Mr. Leon Duizin of the World Zionist Organization, we call upon American Jews throughout our land to participate in all the activities of Aliyah Month in their communities. "COME TO ISRAEL AND BUILD THE LAND" — THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS NEW YORK (JTA)—Anti- Semitic literature is now be- ing distributed in Latin American capitals by mem- bers of the Children of God sect. Founded in 1968 in Hun- tington BeBach, Calif., by David Berg (alias Moses David), the sect has recently expanded its activities throughout Latin America. The Anti-Defamation League of Bnai Brith reports that the controversial group now has centers in Mexico City, Guatemala, Caracas, Bogota, Quito, Lima, Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro. The Children of God, who preach an ultra-fundamental- ist theology and live in corn- munes, distribute in Spanish translation the same anti-Is- rael and anti-Semitic litera- ture which it also distributes in the U.S., including several pamphlets which laud Presi- dent Muammar Qaddafi of Libya. Arnold Forster, the ADL associate director and gen- eral counsel, said the militant cult has recently published and begun distributing such anti-Jewish a n d anti-Israel pamphlets as "The A r a b Wall" and "Israel Invaded." He said "The Arab Wall" is "saturated with raw anti- Semitism," falsely describe the United States as being "Jewish-controlled and Jew- ish-operated," and calls on God to "help the Arabs" and "punish the Jews." New York State Atty. Gen. Louis J. Lefkowitz, after a 10-month investigation by the charity frauds bureau, said in an interim report that ac- tions of the group "should not be permitted to be hidden behind the facade of religion . . . they should come under the umbrella of state regula- tion and scrutiny." He accused the Children of God of brainwashing, forced membership, begging a n d personality distortion and said the group is breaking state secular laws. Three of the defendants, Abraham Gehmer, 36, a for- mer Israeli diplomat, South African-born Sylvia Rafael, 36, and Danish-born Dan Aer- bel, 27, were all found guilty of conspiring to murder Mor- occan waiter Ahmed Bou- shicki last summer in Lille- hammer in eastern Norway. Aerbel was sentenced to five years' imprisonment, while Gehmer and Rafael, who have admitted entering Norway on false passports, received 51/2 year terms. Swedish - born Marianne Gladnikoff, 27, was sentenced to 2 1/2 years' imprisonment for being an accomplice to the crime and for carrying out espionage activities, while Zwi Steinberg, 30, got a one- year term for handling com- munications for the liquida- tion group. A sixth defendant in the case, Michael Dorf, 30, was acquitted. In its judgment, the special jury, consisting of three judges and four laymen, con- eluded that Mossad was be- hind the espionage operation and liquidation of Boushicki, believed by the defendants to have been associated with Black September. Attorneys for the five con- victed Jews have two weeks in which to file their appeals. S.
