Erwin S. Simon was elect-
ed to a second term as presi-
dent of United Community
Services of Metropolitan De-
troit (UCS) at the organiza-
tion's annual meeting.

Simon, an attorney, has
been affiliated with UCS for
more than 16 years — as of-
ficer, board member and
chairman of several plan-
ning projects.
He serves on the executive
committees and boards of
the Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion and the Michigan League
for Human Services. He also
is a vice president of Sinai
Hospital and was an appoint-
ed member of the Gover-
nor's Commission on Public
Welfare. In 1972, he received
the Fred M. Butzel Award.

Mrs. Harriet Schneider of
directors and committees — Lincoln Terrace Dr., Oak
Park, announces the engage-
ment of her daughter Natalie
to Frank Simonovic, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Hank Simono-
vic of Talbot Ave., Oak Park.
Miss Schneider, daughter
of the late Mr. Isidor Schnei-
der, is a graduate of Mr. Da-
vid's College of Cosmetology
and her fiance is an alumnus
of Wayne State University.
They plan to marry in June.

Avern Cohn was elected to
the UCS board of directors,
and first terms on the UCS
Citizen Assembly went to,
among others, Mrs. Aaron
Gershenson and Calvin Shu-
bow.

SALK-ERICKSON: Bridget
Nan Erickson became the
bride of Elliott David Salk
in a recent ceremony in the
bride's home. She is the
daughter of Mrs. Herbert
Erickson and the late Mr.
Erickson. Parents of the
bridegroom are Mrs. Abra-
ham Weinstein of Green-
briar Ave., Oak Park; and
Mr. Philip Salk of Hendrie
Ave., Huntington Woods. The
bride attends Central Michi-
gan University where she is
majoring in French. Her hus-
band earned his MA degree
in clinical psychology from
CMU. Following a honey-
moon in Nassau, the couple
will live in Southfield.

iam to Jack Wolf, son of Mr.

Miss Gorman is a senior at
Wayne State University,
from which her fiance was
graduated.
An August wedding is
planned.

Mr. and Mrs. Morris A.
Birndorf of _Glen Cove Ave.,
Farmington Hills, will be
honored by their children at
a dinner party Saturday at
the Troy Hilton Hotel on the
occasion of their 60th wed-
ding anniversary. Their chil-
dren are Dr. and Mrs. Leon-
ard Birndorf and Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Birndorf.
Mr. Birndorf came to De-
troit from Chicago in 1919,
and began a retail shoe busi-
ness on Detroit's west side.
He retired after 42 years.
He is a charter member of
Adat Shalom Synagogue, a
life member of Perfection
Lodge of the Masons, a mem-
ber of the Jewish Center Re-
tired Businessmen's Club and
Zager-Stone Lodge of Bnai
Brith. Mrs. Birndorf is a
member of Adat Shalom Syn-
agogue's sisterhood and, Had-
assah.
The Birndorfs have six
grandchildren and two great-
grandchildren.

Dr. HERBERT PAPER
of the University of Michigan
was among the participants
in a symposium on "Social
Justice, Interreligious Coop-
eration and Jewish-Christian
Dialogue" at the University
of Pittsburgh Sunday and
Monday. The symposia were
sponsored by the interreligi-
ous affairs department of the
American Jewish Committee,
the Jewish studies program
of the -University of Pitts-
burgh and the graduate de-
partment of theology of Du-
quesne University.

Federation of America. A
member of the CFA's board
of directors since 1972, Mrs.

Lectures in Windsor

Dr. Stephen Bertman of

will begin a series of lectures
on Greek and Roman art and
