Israelis at Front

TEL AVIV (ZINS)—Israeli
troops stationed at the Syrian
and Egyptian fronts are
being exposed to serious in-
fections from local cattle,
according to a report in the
Israel army paper Ba-Mac-
haneh.
The afflictions stem from
bovine tuberculosis, malaria,
and other infections carried
by diseased cattle and fowl
purchased by Israeli troops
from local vend ors and
slaughtered under less than
hygienic conditions. Infection
also results from drinking
the milk of diseased cows.
The Israeli high command
has warned against risking
exposure to disease from
these sources, and is coun-
selling its men to confine
themselves to army fare.
