gogue. Rabbis Jacob E. Segal
and Seymour Rosenbloom
and Cantor Nicholas Fena-
kel officiated.
The bride is the daughter
of Mrs. George Partin of
Scottsdale, Ariz. Parents of
the bridegroom are Mr. and
Mrs. Emanuel Bauman of
Shelley Ave., Southfield.
Following a honeymoon in
Aruba, the couple will live
in Southfield.

Miss Kent was graduated
from Michigan State Univer-
sity with a degree in educa-
tion, and will attend grad-
uate school in the fall. Her
fiance was graduated from
Michigan State with a degree
in osteopathic medicine.

troit Zionist Federation and
Histadrut 8:30 p.m. Feb. 3
at the Labor Zionist Institute.

of journalists, among them
Frank Angelo, executive edi-
tor of the Detroit Free Press,
and Charlotte Dubin, city
editor of The Jewish News.
Atashi, who was born in
1940 in Osifiya, one of two
Druze villages on Mt. Car-
mel, is the youngest in a
family of six sons.
He was sent to missionary
school in Nazareth for his
secondary education and in
May 1961 joined the Israel
Defense Forces and served
for 2 1/2 years.

munity. Soon after, he was
appointed deputy director
general of the Arab and
Druze Workers Youth Move-
ment, in which he was active
until 1969. During that period,
he attended Haifa Univer-
sity, specializing in Arab
studies and political science,
and obtained his BA degree
in 1969.
A year later, Atashi be-
ean working in the Arabic
department of Israel Televi-
sion in Jerusalem, while
continuing his studies for an
MA at Hebrew University.
In 1970, he was put in charge
of Arabic television for the
Northern area of the Haifa
District and taught political
science at Haifa University.
He was appointed to his
present post in August 1972

Ford Auditorium Site of Akiva
Concert 'Best of Two Worlds'

Akiva Hebrew Day School's
sixth annual concert, "The
Best of Two Worlds," will be
held Feb. 17 at Ford Audi-
torium.
Highlighting the classical
portion of the program will
be musicians David and Rita
Reichman, brother and sis-
ter.
An accomplished pianist of
15, Miss Reichman has played
twice for the President, has
appeared at Meadow Brook
Festival, and age 9 per-
formed with the Philadelphia
Orchestra.
She was born in Melbourne,
Australia where at age 2 she
played the piano by ear and
began formal lessons before
she turned 3. At age 4 she
was awarded a scholarship to
study with the late concert
pianist, Jascha Spivakovsky.
She wrote her first musical
composition at age 3 and
won first prize at the Dan-
denong Festival in Mel-
bourne.
In 1967, Miss Reichman and
her family were invited to
study at Interlochen Arts
Academy on the recommen-
dation of Arthur Rubinstein.
She recently performed at
the White House at a state
dinner honoring the president
of Brazil. Her professional
debut was with the Detroit
Symphony Orchestra at the
Meadow Brook Musical Fes-
tival on Aug. 20, 1972.
Her brother, who was born
in Austria, came to the U. S.
in 1967 and immediately
served as concertmaster of
the repertory orchestra at
Interlochen.
Reichman has given many
recitals and solo perform-
ances with many orchestras.
He is a graduate student at
both Temple University and
'the University of Pennsyl-
vania, where he is studying
advanced conducting under
Johnathan Sternberg.
