Three Are Named
for JWB Award
NEW YORK—A Cleveland
civic leader and two New
Yorkers have been named
winners of the 1974 Frank L.
Weil Awards of the National
Jewish Welfare Board (JWB).
The awards are given bi-.
ennially for distinguished ser-
vice in the three primary
areas of JWB's service: the
Jewish community center
field, the morale and welfare
of Jewish military personnel,
their families and hospital-
ized veterans and the ad-
vancement of Jewish culture.
The 1974 winners are Mor-
ton L. Mandel of Cleveland,
national JWB president; Wil-
liam Kolodnev, former edu-
cational director of the Na-
tional Federation of Temple
Sisterhoods and a founder of
JWB''s Women's Organiza-
tions' Services.
They are named in honor of
the late Frank L. Weil, New
York communal leader who
was national president of
JWB from 1940 to 1950.
Bronze medallions and
scrolls will be presented to
the winners at the 1974 bi-
ennial convention of JWB, to
be held April 24-28 at the
Sheraton Hotel in Cleveland.

Slated in Jerusalem
NEW YORK—The board of
directors of the National
Jewish Welfare Board will
hold its winter meeting Jan.
20 29 in Israel, Morton L.
Mandel, president of JWB,
announced. The board meet-
ing will convene Jan. 20 at
Hebrew University with a
reception and dinner.
The Solomon and Mary
Litt-JWB Headquarters in
Jerusalem will be formally
dedicated Jan. 21. The Man-
del Family Community Cen-
ter in Kiryat Yam, made
possible by the Mandel fam-
ily, will he officially dedi-
cated Jan. 24.

Temple Beth El Sisterhood
will hold its annual Torah
convocation 12:30 p.m. Tues-
day. Presentations will be
made by Mrs. Robert Mitchell
and Mrs. Marshall Cossman
on "Pirke Avot — Ethics of
the Fathers." A special box
luncheon will be served. For
