Marilyn Betman took first place for "An Underground Solution to the Middle East Crisis." Second place win- ner, Ralph Goren, titled his essay "A Time for Peace." Judges included Suzy Farb- man, columnist; Norm a Goldman, adjunct assistant professor in Wayne State University's department of English; Leon Wayburn, ad- vertising executive; mem- bers of the Center's board of directors; and Larry Berke, Center director of public re- lations. First prize winners re- ceived $125 in cash, and sec- ond place winners received $75. An additional second prize was awarded in the 16-17-year-old category. Winners include Debra Rowe, first prize winner in the 16-17-year-old category for "The Arab-Israeli Con- flict — Some Insights and Solutions."
