Friends Official Takes Post at Negev University Max Hearshen, director of the Mid-Central States region of American Friends of the Hebrew University, with of- fices in Cleveland, is leaving, to join the staff of the Uni- versity of the Negev in Beersheba. He will head the development depar tment there and be instrumental in establishing Friends of the University of the Negev or- ganizations around the world. Hearshen was area man- ager for State of Israel Bonds in eastern Pennsyl- vania and was a regional field director of the United Jewish Appeal before taking the Midwest position eight years ago. A native of Rochester, N. Y., Hearshen grew up and was educated in Detroit. During World War II, he served in the South Pacific. He has two daughters who live with their families in Israel, one in Jerusalem and the other in Beersheba. His wife, Anita, has been ap- pointed senior regional di- rector for Brandeis Univer- sity for the Mid-Central area and Canada. (The Negev University is to be named the "Ben-Gurion University of the Negev."
