Nshei Chabad, the women's branch of the Lubavitcher movement, announces a tele- phone telethon is under way to help boost the morale of Israeli soldiers by strength- ening Jewish life here. The campaign will. continue through Wednesday from the Lubavitcher Center and pri- vate homes. The telethon, which aims to reach 20,000 Detroit area families, will offer menoras, candles and charity boxes. In response to a call from the Lubavitcher R ebb e. Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the women seek to help further the tenets of Torah, avoda (service or prayer) and gemilut hasodim ( charity). Similar articles are being distributed to soldiers in Is- rael. Nshei Chabad hopes to de- liver the Hanuka offerings within 24 hours of its calls.
