High School Study
on Current Issues
Confronting Israel
NEW YORK — American
Association for Jewish Edu-
cation has published an in-
novative series of classroom
texts presenting divergent
views on contemporary is-
sues confronting Israel.
The 10-unit study program
— prepared over three years
by a team of American and
Israeli educators — differs
from standard curricula "by
refraining from advocating
categorical or partisan ap-
proaches to the areas of
study that it covers," said
Robert H. Arnow, president
of the AAJE.
Instead, the series, which
is titled Viewpoints, "com-
prises a balanced selection
of fact and commentary
focused on sensitive and, at
times, controversial 'root
questions' affecting Israel,"
Arnow said.
