4 Kfar Silver
Alumni Killed

ASHKELON (ZINS)—Four
graduates of the Mar Silver
Agricultural High School of
the Zionist Organization of
America in Israel were
killed in action during the
recent war, with one more
graduate missing and two
taken prisoners, according
to a report received from
Kfar Silver by Leon Iluto-
vich, national executive di-
rector of ZOA.
The Kfar Silver Agricul-
tural High School, along with
the Mar Silver Technical
High School and the Mollie
Goodman Academic High
School (the latter for Ameri-
can students) form the ZOA
campus near Ashkelon.
As part of their homefront
activities during the war, 40
Mar Silver seniors worked
at Kibutz Kinneret in the
north of Israel, where they
filled in on the farm for men
mobilized in the army.
The majority of the Kfar
Silver teachers and coun-
selors were mobilized for ac-
tive military duty during the
war, as were a large number
of the administrative and
maintenance personnel.

Qaddafi Would Expel Jews From Israel

PARIS (JTA) — President
Muammar Qaddafi of Libya
called on all European states
to halt the emigration of
Jews from their territory to
Israel "as their contribution
to Middle East peace," de-
manded the replacement of
Israel by a "Jewish-Arab
state and the return of for-
eign Jews to their countries
of origin" and warned that
the Middle East war would
break out anew unless Israel
withdraws from all occupied
territories. Qaddafi spoke at
a press conference prior to
leaving France for Malta and
Tripoli.
The Libyan leader confer-
red for two hours with Presi-
dent Georges Pompidou at
the Elysee Palace. His visit
to Paris was marked by
widespread Jewish protest
demonstrations. Nearly 1,000
demonstrators marched
through the center of Paris
protesting French arms sales
to Libya.
Qaddafi claimed that "the
only just and lasting solution
to the Middle East crisis is
the creation of a Jewish-Arab
state and the return of for-
eign Jews to their countries
of origin." He said Libya "is
prepared to accept the return
of its Jews and even a num-
ber of European ones as its
contribution to peace." He
suggested the creation of a

Algerian Minister for Oil
Production and OPEC Presi-
dent Belaid Ardessalam, and
Saudi Arabian Minister for
Oil Industries Ahmed Zaki
Yamani, made their position
known during meetings with
President Georges Pompidou,
Foreign Minister Michel Jou-
bert and on a number of
radio and television inter-
views.
Abdessalam and Yamani
arrived here Tuesday on the
first leg of an "explanatory
trip" which will take them
to London, Brussels, Rome,
Bonn and Washington. In the
course of a television inter-
view, Abdessalam said "I
would not be shocked to see
European troops militarily
intervene in the Middle East
to evict Israel from the occu-
pied territories."
The two warned that unless
Israel withdraws or at least
hands over a withdrawal
timetable, the Arab countries
will continue to reduce their
oil production by 5 per cent
per month.
They said that the Brussels
resolution issued by the nine
EEC members earlier this
month "is too weak and too
ambiguous." They called for

Paris-Belgrade-Tripoli axis to
safeguard Mediterranean
peace and stability.
Qaddafi met with President
Tito of Yugoslavia before
coming to Paris.
According to official French
sources, Qaddafi did most of
the talking at his meeting
with Pompidou but did not
raise the issue of additional
French arms sales to Libya
which had been believed to
be one of the main purposes
of his visit. French sources,
however, expect that Libya
will bring up the matter
through diplomatic channels
or that members of Qaddafi's
party who will remain here
will raise the subject with
French officials after he
leaves.
West German Chancellor
Willy Brandt launched an ap
peal for European solidarity
"in the face of the challenge
which threatens our very

"more energetic language
and concrete action." They
refused to spell out what
measures they had in mind,
saying only "it is for Europe
itself to decide."

When told that the rest of
Europe has a certain respon-
sibility toward Holland, the
Algerian minister said: "We
also feel solidarity towards
our Palestinian brethren, and
their situation is far worse
then that of the Dutch."
Meanwhile, Belgian foreign
minister Renaat van Ens-
lande stated before the Bel-
gian Parliament that the gov-
ernment has called upon Is-
rael to withdraw from all
territories occupied in the
1967 war.
The statement also called
for a "solution to the Pales-
tinian problem" and recogni-
tion of Israel's sovereignty
in conformity with Resolution
242. He insisted that the call
for withdrawal was not a
result of Arab pressure.

writes that "Arab military

therefore possible that Israel

the quoted military expert

existence: the energy crisis."
Brandt made his appeal Tues-
day after a day of consulta-
tions with French President

Georges Pompidou. Through.
out his talks with Pompidou
and in the toast he proposed
at the Elysee Palace state
banquet, Brandt called for a
joint West European stand.
He said that such a stand
was necessary to resolve the
energy crisis and for the sake
of further talks with the
United States.

The French made it known
to Brandt that Holland has
usually in the past opposed
European political unifica-
tion.
The French thus feel that
Europe should strike toward
greater political unity and
that other questions would
thus resolve themselves. It
is believed that West Ger-
many has partially agreed to
the French thesis and will
support this stand next month
in Copenhagen at the forth-
coming European Summit
Conference.
Two Arab oil ministers
called for more direct Euro-
pean intervention in the Mid-
dle East "to force Israel to
withdraw" from the occupied
territories .
