S.-Soviet - sponsored UN Mideast cease fire and only 4 per cent expressed opposi- tion to it. But 69 per cent (as against 14 per cent) ob- ject to sending U. S. troops to the Middle East, even if Israel were threatened by Russian armed forces. A 63-14 margin credits Secretary of State Henry Kissinger with being "right to send arms to Israel and ;hen to get together with the Russians to work out a cease fire." The contention that the U. S. should yield to Arab political pressure is rejected by the American people. By a preference of 50 to 26 per cent, the public disagrees with the statement that "We need Arab oil for our gaso- line shortage at home, so we had better find ways to get along with the Arabs, even though it means supporting Israel less." While large numbers of Americans express views sympathetic to the Israel side, 67 per cent agree that "We should not become over- committed to Israel, or we could find ourselves involved in another Vietnam, and that would be wrong." ewry on die Air This Week's Radio and Television Programs HIGHLIGHTS Feature: Israeli and Yid- Time: 9:45 a.m. Sunday. dish music, news, recipes Station: Channel 2. and other features with Jules Feature: Mae Shaffer and Mary Abrams. * * Rockland, author of "The Work of Our Hands," will be BNAI SHALOM interviewed.
