Abraham Kazis, Massachusetts Rabbi

Rabbi Abraham Philip
Kazis, spiritual leader of
Cong. Beth Israel of Wor-
cester, Mass., for the past
18 years, died Oct. 31, it was
learned here. He was the

uate of Boston Hebrew Col-
lege and Boston University,
was ordained at the Jewish
Theological Seminary and
held an honorary doctor of
divinity degree there.
A native of Cambridge,
Mass., Rabbi Kazis served
for 10 years in Salem, Mass.
During World War II, he was
an army chaplain.
Besides his
sister, he
leaves his wife, Eunice; a
daughter, Mrs. Howard (Is-
raella) Abram of Boston;
and two brothers, Dr. Harry
and Rabbi Israel Joseph, of
Temple Mishkan Tefila, New-
ton, Mass.

ern Supermarket at the
Western Market for 25 years,
died Oct. 30 at age 67.
Mr. Katz, a native of Rus-
sia, came to Detroit as a
young boy. He was a mem-
ber of Zager-Stone Lodge of
Bnai Brith and the Hannah
Schloss Old Timers.
