Saturday, at the age of 91.
Until her settlement in Is-
rael several years ago, Mrs.
Silverman held leading posi-
tions in Jewish and civic life
in Providence.
Traveling extensively for
the JNF, Mrs. Silverman
spoke at Detroit functions
numerous times.
Her most recent interest
was to enlist American Jew-
ish interest in the establish-
ment of synagogues in small
Israeli communities on land
of the Keren Kayemet
(JNF).
Mrs. Silverman authored
many essays and poems. She
conducted her lectures in
English, Hebrew, Yiddish,
Spanish. She was an organ-
- izer of Providence Hadassah.
was active in Magen David
Adorn, Young Judaea and
the Jewish Congress.

In 1946, she organized the
Ida M. Silverman Israel
Synagogue Center Building
Fund. Nahlat Ida in Israel
was established on her 70th
birthday.
She was a warded the
Mother of Rhode Island
honor In 1958 and that year
was named Honorary Citizen
of Texas.
Her daughter, Mrs. Selma
Holzman, is currently an ac-
tive community leader in
Washington. She is also sur-
vived by three sons.

died Nov. 4 at age 81.
. Mrs. Goldfarb, 2032 Ver-
non, Saginaw, was a member
of Temple Bnai Israel, a past
president of Temple Bnai Is-
rael Sisterhood, the Michigan
Federation of Temple Sis-
terhoods, Hadassah and the
Visiting Nurses Association,
and a former member of the
boards of directors of the
Saginaw Red Cross, Camp-
. fire Girls and the Saginaw
Volunteer Bureau.
She is survived by a daugh-
ter, Mrs. Louis (Marcia)
Peven of Detroit, and three
grandchildren.
