Interest is growing among
local organizations to collect
and distribute canned goods
for distressed families in the
Jewish community. There
are some 450 names—repre-
senting a few thousand per-
sons—who will be eligible to
receive such aid.

—was undertaken at the ini-
tive of the League of Jewish
Women's Organizations and
Cooperative Council with the
c -ration of Bnai Brith

tribution center. Out of that
center, youth group members
will operate a "mitzva corps"
to deliver the canned goods
to recipients on a list com-
piled by Cooperative Council.
No names, only addresses,
will be provided to the de-
livery corps to preserve the
dignity of the recipients.

gogue Youth and Michigan
State Temple Youth have
volunteered their services.

We think that it is impor-
tant to pass on to you the
growing feeling of urgency
here regarding the prisoner
of war issue.
Bringing our boys back is
foremost in every heart. Past
experience here regarding
Syrian and Egyptian treat-
ment of POWs is in itself
horrendous, and now accom-
panied by Russian tactics, we
fear greatly for every day
that our soldiers remain in
captivity.
The Egyptians have been
removing dogtags of Israeli
dead. wounded and prison-
ers. This, of course, adds fur-
ther confusion to the prob-
lem of identification.
Pressure must immediate-
ly be put on the American
government, Sy r i a n and
Egyptian governments and
the Russian government to
immediately exchange all
POWs.
Lists are not enough, Ex-
change of wounded is not
enough. Until every Israeli
soldier is returned to Israeli
soil, we cannot rest.
