major role in the centennial
convention of the Union of
American Hebrew Congrega-
tions at the Hilton Hotel this
weekend.
The UAHC will join in
business, worship and cul-
tural sessions with the Na-
tional Federation of Temple

serve its 60th biennial con-
vention concurrently at the

Dr. Albert H. Friedlander,
rabbi of Westminster Syna-
gogue and head principal of
the Leo Baeck College, both
in London, will be the first
Bargman Lecturer in this
season's 15th annual series
at Temple Beth El 8:30 p.m.
today.
Ordained at Hebrew Union
College in 1952, Rabbi Fried-
lander earned his PhD at
Columbia University and
since 1966 served in England
at the Wembley Liberal
Synagogue b e f or e being
called to Westminster Syna-
gogue in London. He lec-
tures in history at Leo
Baeck College, seminary for .
training Liberal rabbis. He
is author of a number of
‘books, including "Out of the
Whirlwind: Holocaust Liter-
ature" and "Teacher of
Theresienstadt: The Theology
of Leo Baeck."

Young Israel
Plans Youth-
Adult Kumsitz

Young Israel of Oak-Woods
in conjunction with Young
Israels of Greenfield and
Southfield, and junior and
senior National Council of
Synagogue Youth, will hold
a kumsitz 8:30 p.m. Nov. 17
at Young Israel of Oak-
Woods.
The Mark Goldenberg Trio
will provide entertainment,
and refreshments will be
served. There is an admis-
sion charge and the public
is invited. For reservations,

The kumsitz committee is
comprised of Frank Leider-
man, chairman; Fayga Dom
bey, refreshments; and Eva
Hertz, telephone squad.

A total of 3,000 delegates
are expected to attend ses-
sions on revitalizing the
synagogue, new guiding

principles to provide impetus
for change, Jewish life
throughout the Diaspora and
models for synagogue pro-
graming.
