Rabbi Joseph B. Glaser, executive vice president of the Reform rabbinic associa- tion, asserted that "The diplomatic courtesy of the `right to reply' should not countenance statements of naked prejudice which are beyond the confines of any particular national state." The CCAR statement, mail- ed to Waldheim, Scali and the current presidents of both the General Assembly and the Security Council, makes no reference to any individual, but calls atten- tion to remarks made during the Security Council debates of Oct. 23 and 24. Rabbi Glaser indicated that the rabbis were citing Saudi Arabian UN Ambassador Baroody. He also noted that on other occasions USSR am- bassador to the UN, Yacov Malik, • had uttered "anti- Semitic" references. Scali was asked by the CCAR to "publicly challenge any and all outbursts of other delegates bearing on this issue," and to initiate the adoption of rules by the chairmen at any UN meet- ing to both "prevent and handle" such a problem.
