transit point at which the
refugees "will spend a few
hours at the most."
The refugees, the spokes-
man said, will leave Vienna
aboard El Al charters which
will call twice a day and be
able to pick up some 200
refugees daily. About 150-180
Soviet refugees arrive every
day in the Austrian capital,
a larger figure than before
the outbreak of the Oct. 6
war.
The new camp will be run
by the international commit-
tee for European migration
and no longer by the Jewish
Agency, the spokesman said.
ICEM circles in Geneva
confirmed that they have
been in touch with the Aus-
trian authorities on this sub-
ject but said that no definite
plans have been made as yet.
Schoenau camp has served
as a transit site for refugees
for some eight years. Over
72,000 Soviet Jews have
passed through it since the
large-scale Jewish emigra-
tion from the Soviet Union
started in 1971.

Exhibit Traces
Destruction of
Foreign Jewry

WASHINGTON — The de-
struction of European Jewry,
traced through the notes of
underground Jewish writers
executed during the Holo-
caust and -other parapher-
nalia, is the topic of a Bnai
Brith exhibit ready to go on
loan to Jewish communities.
Among the articles and
items are notes by Warsaw
Ghetto leader Emanuel Ring-
leblum who proposed that the
Jews rally in the streets to
fight the Nazis.
"The Germans would have
taken their revenge. It would
have cost tens of thousands
of lives, but not 300,000."
Ringleblum, whose notes
Were discovered in milk cans
in Warsaw after World War
II, was executed for his par-
ticipation in Operation Oneg
Shabat, t h e underground
Jewish effort to record life
under Nazi rule.
Also included are the draw-
ings of Alfred Kantor, an in-
mate of Auschwitz and a
Nazi work camp in Germany,
who was able to draw
sketches of his surroundings
and hide them from his cap-
cap-
tors.
The traveling -exhibit is the
largest collection of materials
on the Holocaust available
for loan to local Jewish com-
munities and institutions.
A major part of it are
photographs from Jewish
sources and captured Nazi
files that are now part of the
achives of the YIVO Institute
for Jewish Research in New
York.
Mounted on 35 large panels,
the 150 photographs graphi-
cally depict the Holocaust,
from the period of mass de-
portations and Nazi occupa-
tion of Europe to the era of
Jewish resistance and the
aftermath of the war.
The exhibit also includes
films, seminars and campus
lectures. It is assisted by a
$10,000 grant from the World
Federation of Bergen Belsen
Associations, a coalition of
death camp survivors.
