under the name of Klaus
Altmann. He is a prosperous
businessman well connected
in Bolivian circles but was
jailed eight months ago
pending the outcome of the
extradition requests. The
court ruled against extradi-
tion to France because it has
no extradition treaty with
Bolivia.

COPENHAGEN (JTA) —
Former Soviet master spy
chief Leopold Trepper, whom
Polish authorities recently
granted permission to leave
Poland, told the JTA he
would be leaving for London
today or Saturday for a leg
operation.
He said his doctors found
him "too ill" to stop here to
see one of his sons. The fam-
ily reunion will, therefore,
take place in London.
Trepper's wife, Luba, who
is still in the U. S., is due
to visit her youngest son in
Canada before joining her
husband.

tion of Pioneer Women at the Concord Hotel in New York
included Alice Ross, council president; Goldie Wasserman,
arrangements chairman; Helen Ginsberg, Leah Koven,
Yetta Weinberg, Ida Bailey, Iliene Windelman, Esther
Kaber, Isabel Slutsky, Frances Shayne, Clara Marks, Ethel

Bortman, Chana Michlin, Sarah Levin, Rebecca Goldberg,
Lillian Lublin, Beatrice Newmark, Anne Greenberg, Adele
Mondry and Blanche Tuchman. Plans for the Pioneer
Women 1973 convention-conclave in Israel which was to
be held Tuesday through Nov. 15 were postponed.

Kings Arms restaurant on the occasion of their 50th wed-
ding anniversary. The party was given by their children

Michigan Department President Ann Rubin will attend
the national executive committee meeting of the Jewish
War Veterans Auxiuiary Nov. 1-4 in Washington. She will be
accompanied by Rosalyn Liner and Sarah Nemon. Shirlee
Iden, a national officer, wil then leave for an extended
tour through Israel. She will visit Tel Hashomer Hospital.

Feminist Gives Medal to Pope Paul

author, presented Pope Paul
VI with a women's libera-
tion cross at a recent five-
minute audience with the
Pope. In return, she received
a bronze Vatican emblem.
When giving the medallion
to the pontiff she said, "I
give you this gift in the hopes
that the Catholic Church will
come to a profound new
theology with regard to wom-
en, with the hopes that the
Judeo - Christian tradition

which in the past has held
women back will come to
new terms with womanhood."
