Isrelis Show Concern for Americans, Too

Michael Kramer, stationed
with the tank corps in Sinai,
ran out of aerograms to send
home to his parents, the
Oscar Kramers of New Jer-
sey Ave., Southfield, advis-

ing them that all was well.
So he sent a postcard to
his friends, Albert and Nettie
Elazar of Jerusalem, asking
the former Detroiters to send
the message to America for
him.
But the address on the
card was incorrect; and the
young woman who was de-
livering mail during the
crisis could not find the
Elazars.

"Dear Mr. and Mrs.
Kramer: My daughters have
been delivering mail during
the emergency here in Jeru-
salem. One of the postcards
they were unable to deliver
because they could not find

Rich in Politics, Human Emotion,
History. Blunt, Candid!

THE BRIDGE
OF TIME

A fascinating book of random con-
versations with ordinary Israeli
citizens. From the Golan Heights
to Eilat the author roamed, avoid-
ing official spokesmen, seeking
the unbiased citizen who speaks
t
freely, unaffectedly. As the Israeli
r talks, the reader begins to see
r who he was, is, hopes to be and what
he thinks of his government, politics,
religion, America, Russia, the world. In-
triguing revelations!

U.S. Senator Charles Percy says: "The

approach is unique . . . will help others
to know what life is like for Israelis."

Dr. A. L. Sachar, Chancellor of Brandeis University says .

"He concentrates on the Israelis ... and his interviev,
are blunt, candid. and felicitously reported."

Rabbi Eugene Borowitz, editor of SH'MA says: "Fasci-

nating, engaging . . . rich in politics, human emotion,

Oil Combines
Blasted by JNF
Chairman

The international oil com-
bines were accused of guilt
in the current, alleged fuel
shortages by Mrs. Isidora
Goldzimer as she spoke to a
near-capacity audience at the
Jewish National Fund's Blue-
Box Day Brunch at Cong.
Bnai Moshe.
"You will bear the brunt
of the grumbling for fuel
shortages this winter and
fall, if they actually occur,"
Mrs. Goldzimer said. "But
the true villains are the large,
international oil combines
themselves."
Mrs. Goldzimmer, a chair-
man of JNF, a member of
the national board of Hadas-
sah and of the Women's
Zionist Organization of
America, Inc. said that there
is "ample crude oil coming
into the U.S., but there is
definitely inadequate plan-
ning and the means of re-
fining the product at the
moment."
She lauded the Blue-Box
for its place in the reclama-
tion of Israel and for its de-
velopment of roads and forest
complexes. "During the pres-
ent trouble, the Blue-Box's
roads have speeded supplies
and troops to all areas of
fighting, while the many
foreSts and trees lining those
roads have sheltered traffic
and supply dumps, making it
virtually impossible for the
enemy to seek out and de-
stroy these vital spots."
Mrs. Goldzimer made a
plea for increased effort in
the use of Blue-Boxes for
funds for Israel.
