Chajes Owns Casals Letter
Julius Chajes, director of
the Jewish Center's music
department and conductor
of the Center Symphony, said
he may be the only Detroiter
who owns a letter from the
late renowned cellist Pablo
Casals.
The letter, dated Jan. 20,
1936, and translater from the
French reads:
"Dear Mr. Chajes,
